Yanfeng Automotive Interiors is one of the world's largest suppliers of parts for automotive interiors, including fabrics. The company – headquartered in Shanghai, China – employs 28,000 people and has more than 90 locations around the world engaged in customer service, development, engineering and manufacturing. It was formed as recently as July 2015 as a joint venture between Yanfeng Automotive Trim Systems and Johnson Controls when the latter spun-off its automotive interiors business. Innovation is integral to Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, and the company benefits from the expertise of Johnson Controls – which has been a pioneer in the development of components based on fabrics, particularly those made from natural fibre nonwovens and recyclable composites for seating, door and instrument panels. Innovations from Johnson Controls include ComfortThin, Compression Hybrid Molding (CHyM), Ecobond, EcoCor, FaserTec, Fibrowood and NF EP. In September 2015 Yanfeng Automotive Interiors showcased its innovations in a concept car which incorporated over 30 technologies and innovations. Looking to the future, the company is growing significantly, and substantial investments have been made in the development of a new manufacturing facility in the USA.
