Elsewhere, textile and clothing exports from Turkey rose in 2022 but were down during January-September 2023 compared with the corresponding period a year earlier. Also, textile production in Turkey fell in 2022 and was down during January-August 2023. Clothing production, by contrast, rose in 2022 and was up during January-August 2023. In Morocco, textile and clothing exports were up in 2022--reflecting increases in exports to almost all of Morocco's major markets. Furthermore, there was strong growth in sales of Moroccan textiles and clothing in the US import market in the first nine months of 2023 compared with the corresponding period a year earlier although sales in the EU import market were down in the first half of the year. Textile production in Morocco declined in 2022 and was also down in the first half of 2023. Clothing production also declined in 2022 but it was up in the first half of 2023.
