This latest report in our flagship series contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. The report presents a wealth of information and is essential for anyone who is considering sourcing from, selling to or investing in these countries or their export markets. In particular, the report includes detailed information on domestic production and exports of textiles and clothing by type and destination. Textile and clothing exports from Egypt increased in 2022, following a jump in 2021. In 2023, however, there were declines in sales of Egyptian textiles and clothing in the EU import market in the first half of the year and in the US import market in the first nine months of the year compared with the corresponding periods a year earlier. Elsewhere, textile and clothing exports from Turkey rose in 2022 but were down during January-September 2023 compared with the corresponding period a year earlier. Also, textile production in Turkey fell in 2022 and was down during January-August 2023. Clothing production, by contrast, rose in 2022 and was up during January-August 2023. In Morocco, textile and clothing exports were up in 2022--reflecting increases in exports to almost all of Morocco's major markets. Furthermore, there was strong growth in sales of Moroccan textiles and clothing in the US import market in the first nine months of 2023 compared with the corresponding period a year earlier although sales in the EU import market were down in the first half of the year. Textile production in Morocco declined in 2022 and was also down in the first half of 2023. Clothing production also declined in 2022 but it was up in the first half of 2023. In Tunisia, textile and clothing exports increased in 2022 and were up during January-July 2023 compared with the corresponding period a year earlier. Meanwhile, production by Tunisian textile, clothing and fur manufacturers also increased in 2022, and it was also up during January-June 2023.
