This latest edition of our flagship series of reports contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. The report presents a wealth of information on: exports by destination; imports by source; production; consumer expenditure; and retail markets. In the USA, there were increases in imports of textiles and clothing in both value and volume in 2018. There was also an increase in US consumer expenditure on clothing and footwear, although growth in expenditure slowed during the first three quarters of 2019. US textile production rose in 2018 but was down during January-October 2019 while clothing production was down in 2018 and during January-October 2019. US exports of textiles and clothing rose in value terms in 2018 but were down during January-October 2019. In Argentina, textile and clothing production was down in 2018 and imports of textiles and clothing rose for the fourth consecutive year. However, exports of textiles and clothing surged. In Brazil, textile and clothing production declined in 2018 but textile and clothing exports rose. There was also an increase in textile and clothing imports in 2018 but imports were down during January-October 2019. In Colombia, textile and clothing production increased in 2018 and so did textile and clothing exports. However, textile and clothing exports edged down during January-October 2019. In Mexico, textile and clothing production increased in 2018 and so did textile and clothing exports. However, textile and clothing imports also increased in 2018.
