The 2018 edition of Heimtextil—the world's largest trade fair for home and contract textiles—was held in Frankfurt, Germany, during January 9-12, 2018. The fair attracted a large number of visitors and exhibitors from all over the world, affirming Heimtextil's reputation as one of the most important and most international home textiles fairs. Visitors at Heimtextil had the opportunity to browse the latest product developments in the sectors of digital print, floor coverings, furniture and decorative fabrics, household textiles, wallpapers, and window coverings. Numerous innovations were presented at the fair, including environmentally sustainable yarns, functional cotton fabrics for home textiles, and new fibrefill products. Another highlight at the fair was the European Digital Textile Conference, during which industry experts discussed the potential for digital printing in the home textiles market. In this report, Robin Anson discusses some of the highlights of Heimtextil 2018 and its significance for the home textiles market. Also, he reports on trends in the home textiles market and on the latest product developments in home textiles, and he provides an overview of the market for digital textile printing.
