This latest edition of our flagship series of reports contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. The report presents a wealth of information on exports by destination, imports by source, and production. Also, it includes information on consumer expenditure and the retail market in the USA, and retail sales in Argentina. In the USA, imports of textiles and clothing declined in terms of value and volume in 2016. Textile production and clothing production also declined, and exports of textiles and clothing fell in value terms for the second consecutive year. In Argentina, exports of textiles and clothing increased noticeably, and imports of textiles and clothing also rose. However, textile production was down. In Brazil, textile and clothing production declined, as did textile and clothing exports. Imports of textiles and clothing, meanwhile, plunged but they rebounded during January-June 2017. In Colombia, exports of textiles and clothing fell in 2016 for the fourth consecutive year, and there were declines in volume terms in textile production and clothing production. In Mexico, textile and clothing imports and exports fell but textile production and clothing production increased.
