The 2017 edition of Texprocess—an international trade fair for garment manufacturing and textile processing—was held in Frankfurt, Germany, during May 9-12, 2017. The fair attracted a large number of visitors and exhibitors from all over the world, affirming its importance to the textile and clothing industry. Textiles Intelligence attended the fair, and interviewed exhibitors and industry experts to identify the latest trends—which included individualisation and digitalisation. In this report, Robin Anson discusses the activities of a selection of companies which presented products exemplifying these trends, including Human Solutions Group, Mitsubishi Electric Europe and Tukatech. Furthermore, he discusses the latest developments in the digital print market, examines the importance of digital printing for the creation of customised products, and provides an overview of the likely importance of digitalisation and process automation on product quality in the textile and clothing industry and the opportunities for "reshoring".
