Editorial: Texprocess Innovation Award winners address issues of colour variation, energy usage, labour costs, productivity, quality control, skills shortages and waste |
published in Issue 162, June 2013
|
On June 10, 2013, the seven winners of the Texprocess Innovation Award 2013 were announced by Messe Frankfurt in the Congress Centre in Frankfurt, Germany. The winners were chosen by a judging panel comprising four jurors -- who included Robin Anson, the editorial director of Textile Outlook International -- from 30 entries submitted by 18 companies. The seven winning entries are diverse, but all have one thing in common. Their developers have addressed problems which are encountered worldwide by companies in the global textile and apparel industries -- ranging from the need for products and processes that are environmentally sustainable and conserve energy to the difficulties of finding, recruiting, training and retaining skilled labour. In this report, Mr Anson describes the seven winning entries in detail and, specifically, how they help to increase efficiency and address problems encountered in the manufacturing and processing of textiles and clothing.
