This latest report in our flagship series contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. The report presents a wealth of information, and is essential for anyone who is considering sourcing from, selling to or investing in these countries or their export markets. In particular, the report includes detailed information on domestic production and exports of textiles and clothing by type and destination. Textile and clothing exports from Egypt fell in 2020, reflecting the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Textiles and clothing exports from Turkey also fell, and clothing production fell following ten consecutive years of growth. However, textile production edged up. In Morocco, textile and clothing exports were down—reflecting falls in sales of Moroccan clothing in the EU and US import markets. There was also a fall in textile and clothing production but textile production increased during the first half of 2021 and clothing production surged during the second quarter of 2021. In Tunisia, textile and clothing exports declined in 2020, but they were up during January-August 2021. Also in 2021, there were sharp recoveries in sales of Egyptian textiles and clothing in the EU import market in the first half of the year and in the US import market in the first nine months of the year. Meanwhile, Turkey's share of US textile and clothing imports from all sources rose significantly during January-August 2021 and textile and clothing production in Turkey was up significantly during January-April 2021.
