This 2013 edition of our flagship series of reports contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in the EU. The report identifies important trends and includes information on: production of textiles and clothing; textile and clothing imports by supplying country; textile and clothing exports by destination country; and textile and clothing trade balances. It also analyses trade and production activities in each EU member state and provides an outlook. EU textile and clothing exports to countries outside the EU increased in 2012. However, textile and clothing production declined during the year, having also fallen in the previous year. Imports of textiles and clothing into the EU fell too as the eurozone crisis led to lingering uncertainty and weaker demand in the aftermath of the global recession. The average price of EU textile imports declined in 2012 whereas the average price of EU clothing imports rose following an increase in the previous year. Furthermore, there were increases in the average prices of imports from 19 of the 20 leading clothing supplying countries. This report presents a wealth of information and is essential for anyone who is considering sourcing from, selling to or investing in the EU and its leading supplying countries and export markets.
