X-Bionic is a Switzerland-based sportswear company which, from a technological perspective, claims to have more in common with the aviation industry than with the sports clothing industry. The company focuses heavily on research and, since its establishment in 2000, it has built up a portfolio of some 60 full patents and 200 design patents relating to its nature-inspired fabric technologies. X-Bionic initially specialised in the development of sports socks, but has since significantly expanded its product range to include jackets, pants, shirts and undergarments for a variety of sports. Furthermore, the company is continuing to innovate, and plans to develop several new technologies in the fields of microfibres, nanofibers and sensors. Other areas of development for the company have included the opening of a 1 mn m2 sports resort, called X-Bionic Sphere. This report provides an overview of the development of X-Bionic since its foundation and provides insight into the company's business strategy and manufacturing operations. Furthermore, the report provides an overview of X-Bionic's proprietary fabric technologies and its latest products, and provides an outlook for the future.
