Profile of Medelita: an innovator in medical uniforms

Medelita is a relatively new company based in the USA which specialises in the supply of high quality laboratory (lab) coats and scrubs.
The company was started in 2008 by a physician assistant whose vision was to fill a gap in the medical uniform market by supplying high performance, low maintenance garments tailored specifically for women.
Since the company began trading, it has recorded sharp growth in sales despite the slump in the global economy.
Medelita attributes much of its sales success to Optimer—a USA-based producer of high performance yarns which are used in the manufacture of the fabrics from which Medelita’s garments are made. Moreover, Optimer has also helped in the development of its product range.
The use of Optimer yarns has set Medelita apart from most of its competitors—who rely on traditional cotton and polyester/cotton blended fabrics for their garments. Medelita’s garments are distinguished by their fashionable, feminine design and strong functionality. This functionality is achieved by designing and testing the garments to the same high standards as performance sportswear and athletic apparel.
Looking ahead, Medelita is confident about its future because it believes that it can continue to satisfy an unfulfilled need in the marketplace. Also, it is confident that an improvement in economic conditions will help it to achieve significant growth in sales.
