O'Neill is a world leading provider of wetsuits and surf apparel, and is credited with the development of a number of innovations in this product area—notably the neoprene wetsuit, which was invented by the company's founder, Jack O'Neill, in the USA in 1952. Since the company was established, it has diversified significantly and its product portfolio now includes accessories, activewear, beachwear, snowwear and streetwear in addition to wetsuits. The company is part owned by the Netherlands-based brand management company Logo International. However, the O'Neill family has retained ownership of some areas of the business, including the O'Neill Wetsuits business, in order to safeguard the authenticity of the O'Neill brand. O'Neill remains committed to innovation in this product area and it has recently successfully developed a new neoprene material called Technobutter 3. O'Neill is also committed to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, and this is reflected in the number of industry initiatives which it supports—notably those associated with workers' rights. It also supports a number of environmental causes, and has developed a collection of apparel which focuses on the use of environmentally sustainable materials. This report provides insight into the establishment of O'Neill and its licensing and distribution activities. Also, it discusses the company's latest innovations and its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
